In this (short) week's Random Recast, we found new ways to use old t-shirts.Day #4: Shaggy Floor Mat
Perfect for bathrooms, kids' rooms or anywhere that could use a pop of texture, this shag rug starts with t-shirts. This idea is a little more advanced than the woven t-shirt rug we spotlighted earlier in the week, since it requires a latch hook kit. But if you're up to dabbling in a new crafty skill, the flokati-like result is worth the trouble. For the complete tutorial, visit Xoelle.

Day #2: T-Shirt Totes

For less-sentimental tees, this DIY tote idea is just right. You really need only the most minimal of sewing skills to create your own expandable bag.
Day #1: Woven Rug
For a more stylish take on rag rugs, take a look at this ombre-like version. I like the technique used here (braiding t-shirt strips, then coiling them together, sewing to secure) versus the traditional method (crocheting), since the braids hide the knots connecting each t-shirt strip.
